PROPOSED BRIDGE
· OVER HUMBER.
Hull to Contribute £200,000.
The Hull City Council has con- firmed a recommendation that they express their willingness to contribute £200,000 towards the cost of the proposed bridge over the River Flumber.
COT)+
The Lord Mayor stated that the Government Departments corned, from whom they anti- cipated substantis? financial assistance, had intimated that it would be useless to send a deputa- tion to them until various in- terested local'authorities assessed the value of the scheme to them: selves in terms of cash.
It was urged that the scheme, calculated to cost £1,750,000, would obtain general support if power to impose tells was grant e. The Lord Mayor replied that the advantage of the bridge to Hull was assessed at £200,000, but if any further sum was required from them, they asked for power to impose" tolls to reimburse the corporation for that extre costi only.
It is reported that the Boston Urban Council has expressed its willingness to subscribe £10,000, and has recommended the Lindsey County Council to contribute £50,000.
