This Year's 'Plane Race Round Britain.
WOMEN COMPETITORS.
Rugby, Yesterday, This year's air race for the King's Cup is to be confined to light 'planes. The course will be one of 760 miles round Britain and the contest, will he decided on one day instead of be ing spread over two days as In the past. The date arranged is July 5, and the start and finish of the race will be at Worth Aerodrome. There is'every prospect of a record entry
Flight-Lieutenant Atcherley,
and a number of women pilots have intimated their intention of piloting their own machines. As many as
·£$ planes will probably face the starter. Some champion airmen will be taking part.
Flight-Lieutenant Atcherley, who flew a Supermarine Six to victory in last year's Schneider Trophy race, raining a speed of over 330 miles an hour, and Flight-Lieutenant Staniforth, who piloted the high speed Gloster Rapler at an equally high speed, are flying together In the King's Cup race, But as only light 'planes can be used they will have to be content this time with a speed of about 85 or 90 miles an hour. Using one of the Royal Air
Force racing machines, they could get round in about two hours. As it is, they will take more than eight 73 hours.--British Wireless Service.
