TWO COMEDIANS.

[By Dorothy Herzog.] Three years ago, a silm blue eye blond divided his time 'twixt the Hal Roach scenario

department and the grease paint.

A more generously proportioned brunette was in regular stock. The two were minor characters, occasional ly, in the same picture.

Those were the days when Roach lined up names like Theda Bura, Lols Wilson, Priscilla Dean, et cetera. Pald them $10,000 to make a two reelor and surrounded them with stock actors.

Came A morn when another comedian was needed. A rush call. Enter the slim, blue-eyed chap to team with the more generously proportioned brunette. The picture was finished, It was shown in the projection room. Roach spotted the two comedians. He put them together in a picture of their own. They've recently been "discovered" by the ultras and to-day rank · prime flick favourites.

Introducing, please, Stan Laurel and Oliver ("Babe") Hardy.

They're a couple of swell guys, Stan and Babe. They don't take their art for publication. They're startled by their success. They work hard but they have a lotta laughs.

My introduction to them was a lulu. We were chewing the rag peacefully when suddenly a little. serious faced fellow behind horn rimmed glasses plucked Mr. Hardy's sleeve.

"May I see you a minute, Mr. Hardy?" timidly.

Mr. Hardy frowned. "I'm busy," and turned his back.

"But Mr. Hardy," persistently.

"I tell you I'm busy!" roared the furious Mr. Hardy. "Now get out!"

Wham! and Mr. Hardy's broad palm caught the little fellow on the chin. Clunk! Mr. Laurol'a foot kicked with deadly surenese and caught the same spot. The little fellow staggered backwards,

By this time, my eyes had popped to the floor. Suddenly Mr. Hardy doubled up and shouted and Mr. Laurel grinned delightedly.

"We practised that one for you," gurgled, Mr. Hardy.
