The Metor Vessel.
Owing to unsettled conditions and the fact that Chinese vessels are constantly being commandeered by the different military leaders for the transportation of tropps, Chinese shipping companies are now main-are talning only a skeleton service on the Hankow run and even this is of a very apasmodic character.
A number of vessels are being tied up in Shanghai awaiting a settlement of the present troubles. The China Merchants S. N. Co. has only a couple of vessels on the run and the San Peh. Co. is unable to put any ships into service, with the result that the Chinese companiça" services are, more or less, of a negligible nature. However, the China Merchants are hoping for the carly return of their steamers, the Klangwah, Klanghsun and Kiang-

HONG KONG TIDE
The tido-table given below has been obtained by aid of the Tide-pre- dieting Machine, which includes 40 components for the better prediction of tiden, from the result of the analysis of the tidal observations, taken at the Kowloon tidal observa tory under the direction of Dr. Doberck during the years, 1887, 1888 and 1889.
The times and heights are given for Kowloon; but they may be used far the Victoria Naval Yard and Aberdeen, the differences being very small.
The times of high and low-water muni not be considered to coincide with the times of slack-water and change of current, the two phenomena being quite distinct.
