HOCKEY

Club Defeat the Somersets

The Club defeated the Somerset Light Infantry by four goals to one on the U.S.R.C. ground, yesterday.

The game was well contested through- unfor→ out, and the Somersets were tunate to lose by such a large margin. They were a better team than the score suggests. The Club defence were in great form,, and repeated assaults by their opponents were repelled.

The Club attack showed better com- bination, and for the first part of the game they dominated the play, secur- ing a four goal lead through Owen Hughes, Frost (2) and Noronha. The coldiers, however, were not discouraged and fought back commendably. The vicitors' defence were sorely tried to the latter end of the first half, but managed to remain firm.

The secon, half yielded only one goal --for the Somersets, through Corporal Richardson. The soldiers deserved better lock, but they were up against a sterling defoner.
