At a meeting of the 1912 Club hoid recently in London, Rear-Ad- miral A. E. Taylor give an address, in the course of which he said he was very easy at the attitude which Mr. Ramsay MacDonald and his Government were taking up to- ward our first line of defence, and concentrating on that, and that alone.

Through having another sweet. heart, an ex-member of the re organisation committee Labour Union in Shanghai was ar- the rested after his first one had told the police that he was in possession of a quantity of documents, litera ture and books of anti-Kuomin- tang nature, and was also a leading communist,

The woman told a C.P.C. who was on duty at Taku Road at high noon recently, about her friend's habits, and the policeman with two others went into No. 1330 Avenue Edward VII where after finding the documents, then saw somebody run out of the house. They gave chaso and arrested the man with the as- sistance of another police constable. The informant was also taken to the police station where she was detained as a material witness.

Later other policemen visited the house and a quantity of anti-Gov- ernment documents was seized. The prisoner was charged with offences against the international security of the state, but refused to admit that the documents were his, offer- ing a plea that the informant had planted them on him so that he would be arrested.

Judge Sun, and Mr. Meinhardt, Senior Consul's Deputy who were

sitting adjourned the саве for further inquiries to be made and ordered the informant to be detain- ed.

The Venerable E. E. Holmes, Archdeacon of London, and Canon His of St. Paul's, has resigned. work has lain almost entirely in the East-end.
