The plaintiff in the action was Mr. Hassaram Glanchand, trading as the Kashmir Silk Store, ground floor, No. 98A, Queen's Road Central who sued Mr. Li Koon-chun, his landlord, for the recovery of $203.67 being damages to a quantity of silk goods as a result of a to- rential rain which caused water to leak through the roof.

Pleading guilty to a charge of unlawful possession of 5.5 mace of prepared opium, a Chinese was at the Kowloon Magistracy this morning before Mr. W. Schofield" fined $44, with the alternative of one month's hard labour.

His wife was also charged, but she pleaded not guilty, and was discharged.
