Fashion Forecast In A Play

Ascot fashions are always an alluring thought, and a forecast of the type of gown to be worn at this smartest of all race meetings in the still far-off summer of 1930 gives a special dress interest to Mr. Reginald Berkeley's new play, "Miss Adventure," at the Winter Garden Theatre London, in mail week.

Rainproof Evening Cloaks

Rainy days are to produce some smart fashions this season. A wet theatre night problem has been solved by the silk-proofed evening cloak, which was launched at a dis- play by the Dela Rubber Company in London. Seaweed green lined with black formed a reversible evening cloak.

"When in doubt wear your velvet coat" is the new rainy, afternoon and rule. Fragile fabrics, like velvet silk hitherto regarded as "ruined" if a spot of rain fell on them, are being proofed to with- stand a baking.

Certain hard. wearing furs, too, such as astrak han and opossum, come into the wet-weather scheme.

Wet weather fashions have been revolutionised by the secret, pro- cess which has made the tweed cost of Fashion eligible for wet as well as fine days.

Tweed, to begin with, has a cer. tain amount of rain-resisting power, which, it was stated, has been increased by 40 per cent. rubber in tweed treated in this way, through this process. There is no
