At the outset, the speaker said that Dr., Barnardo In his early life; studied for the medical profession, and during his spare time in the evening, (there was not much) he had a night school for poor and ragged bays. This little soul touched the heart of Dr. Barnardo (who thought, at the moment, that the Ind was "foaling") and he was inspired by God to help him.

The boy then took Dr. Barnardo to a wall, and they climbed it to mae eleven more ragged boys shivering there-na parents, no home, no one to look after them.

Surprised and touched by this gift, he asked the girl what it was for, and, she told him it was to go towards the upkeep of, his boys. This gift he great- ly appreciated, because it was from one who was really poor.

Best Way to get Products Known

Addressing members of the Wandsworth Rotary Club, Mr. W. Buchanan-Taylor." publiclty manager of J. Lyons and Ca. Ltd., said that the industrialist, small and large, must make his products known. He must ad- vertise.

"And if you ask me how best to advertise," he continued, "I would say:

Describing the growth of hia firm from a catering contract at the Newcastle Exhibition of 1887, to a company with nearly eight and a half millions capi. tal, Mr. Buchanan-Taylor.gaid: "Its foundation was a twopenny pot of tea. Now the firm seils over a million and a quarter packets of tea a day. Lyons came Into a 'field that was said to be fully equipped, but by persistence, patience, and per- severance, built up the greatest catering organisation in the world, employing at present more than 30,000 people."

"Hard Up" Opposing the application, Mr. Leo d'Almada e Castro, Jr. said that Mr. Jenkin had admitted that 'the ap- plicant had virtually alleged that the registration (the vacation of which was now sought) **Wal nothing more than blackmail" on the part of plaintiffs, Mr. d'Almada also dealt with a suggestion by applicant that plaintiffs had had some of their Macao property at- tached, that one of them had served & year in the debtors' prison in Macao and, hence, that plaintifs had brought the action because they were "hard up."

This allegation of blackmail was so general, Mr d'Almada argued, and no remotely connected with the subject matter of the action' that It was of no value. There was ample evidence to the effect that the action was brought bona fide and he, coun sel, therefore asked that the applica- tion be dismissed.

Solicitors engaged in the case were:---Messrs, Wilkinson & Grist
