tide-table given below. has been obtained by aid of the Tide-pre- dicting Machine, which includes 40- components for the better prodiction of tides, from the result of the analysis of the tldal observations, taken at the Kowloon tidal obferva tory under Doberck during the years 1887, 1888: the direction of Dr.. and 1889.

The s.. "President Adams" com. manded by Captain W. O. Kohlmeister, docked at Kowloon on Sunday morn- |ing at 6 am. from New York, via San Francisco, Honolulu, Kobe and Shanghai, bringing passengers, mall and cargo for Hong Kong, Thirty-tok three First Class passengers disem barked, 160 bags of mail, and 1,274 tons of general cargo will be dis charged. Seventy First Class passeri gers are continuing through on the vessel, which also carries a large in- transit cargo.

The times and heights are given for Kowloon; but they may be used for the Victoria Naval Yard and Aberdeen, the differences being very znali,
