Hollywood-Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. If it does- great. If it doesn't what're the odds?

Our story concerns an English comedian recently arrived in Holly- wood. A certain studio desiring his services telephoned. He went over to talk business for a specific, film and was greeted thus:

"I hear you want $2,500 picture." said the producer.

"Really"

"That's too much."

"That's not enough."

"Why," bickered the producer, "I can get Ignatz Jones, whose name is five times bigger than yours, to play the part for $2,000,"

"Then get him," beamed the comic. "You're wasting my time." He got up to go.

"Wait a minute," soothed the pro- ducer. "What's your price for the pieture?"

The comic meditated, Then: "Look! If you pay me a nickel for the part and I'm not worth a nickel, that's too much money, Right?" The produeer nodded. "I'll tell you what I'll do with you-I'll gamble. I'll work ten weeks free. If you can find any three people in Hollywood who, at the end of that time, could play the part as well, I've worked for nothing. If you can't, you give me ten weeks' salary at $5,000 a week. Agreed?"

Not by a long shot it wasn't! The comedian walked out a free man and to the best of his knowledge the rumour is absolutely true that
