Ever vigilant customs officials at New York are holding the eleven pieces of baggage which Mrs. Charles C. Rumsey, formerly Mary Harriman, daughter of E. E. Harriman, railroad magnste, brought to America with her from Spain. They claim alleged dis- crepencies between her declaration and the contents of her trunks.

A compressed air blæst at the Hackensack river caisson on the Newark Acenue bridge at Jersey City, N. J., resulted in six workers being sucked in the mud of the river. The body of one of the victims is shown above being removed from the scene of the horrible tragedy. Six men were also injured in the blast which is now being carefully investigated.

Jung, jua., right, when Hausinger noticed he had a damaged strut. Hastily instructing his sister about the controls, he swung out of the window to repair the damaged part, and with the help of Mrs. Jung. who had never been in the air before was enabled to land the plane safely.
