SQUASH RACQUETS
GAME THAT GIVES MOST EXERCISE·
COURTS IN HOTELS
Squash racquets is growing in popularity by leaps and bounds. In every hotel-and the majority of up-to-date hotels have one or more squash racquet courts-club, and private house where a court is installed. There is hardly a mo- ment of the day when it is not in
use.
Secret of Popularity
'+
The secret of the popularity of the game is that, besides being very skilful, it provides the maximum of exercise in the minimum of time. This is a great advantage to the busy man. He dons flannels and plays squash for three-quarters of an hour and he has done himself as much good as if he had been in a Turkish bath for a couple of hours. Moreover, his muscles have been exercised and all his flabbi- gees vanishes.
Squash racquets is great train- ing for almost every ball game. It makes for quick movement, the ball travels at lightning speed, foot- work has to be fast, and good con- dition is acquired.
The boxer benefits from squash because it is played in a small area and the dancing footwork is simi- lar to what is required in the ring. cricketer and lawn tennis player appreciate the value of

Cost of a Court The Rugby footballer, too, has his abdominal muscles hardened. by the many turnings and twists of the body that one has to make when playing squash, and it helps the
footballer because "Soccer"
it keeps him absolutely fit.
Private courts are springing up everywhere. In some suburbs re- sidents club together to build a court in which they install artificial light. Every evening ther play til they are exhausted, but their health is improved.
The cost of an up-to-date squash- racket court varies from about £25 to £400 according to materials used. There is no upkeep except an oc- casional brushing. The game has the advantage that it can be play- ed in any weather because the courts are covered.
