OSAKA HARBOUR

ONE OF THE LARGEST IN JAPAN

NOW COMPLETED

One of the largest ports in Japan next to Yokohama and Kobe has been provided with the completion of the Osaka harbour.. The first plan of the harbour construction says the "Japan Advertiser." was commenced

years ago at an aggregated cost of Y10,873,000. With the completion of the work two long breakwaters, one stretching from the right banki of Kizukawa and the ather from the mouth of Ajikawa were constructed. The port is capable of

holding 5.000-ton steamers at the same time and

capable of bringing eight 10,000- ton steamers along the piers. In the reclaimed ground 26 bounded, ware- houses, a harbour railway and other arrangements have been established. The

newly constructed pier is 1,500 fert in length and 90 feet in width. According to recent investigations the harbour of Osaka handles 40,000,000 tons of goods, amounting Lo Y2,780,000,000 in value per year.
