TO WITHDRAW

American Presbyterians Give Up Temporarily

Amoy, May 30. The Reformed Church of America Mission (Presbyterian) operating in Amey and throughout South Fukien has decided to withdraw all of its foreign missionaries from the interior until more favourable con- ditione prevail. For some time the persistent activities of a radical element usually termed "com- munist" have condiderably, hamper. ed missionary work.

As a result of such activities Talmage College in Changchow, was forced to close its doors several weeks ago. Even many of the native Christian workers have been molested and in some places seriously persecuted.

Since the withdrawal of regular troops to centres of the civil wars of Chins, this district is left poorly protected, thus giving the radical element much more freedom. Many recent rumoura indicate stronger interference with mission work in particular, and further attacks against foreigners in general,

All efforts made to communicate with Dr. Holleman have failed to materialise His whereabouts still remain unknown.
