OUTSTANDING INCIDENTS

SETTLED

AN AGREEMENT SIGNED

Nanking, Yesterday. Following a conference between Dr. C. T. Wang (Minister for For eign Affairs in the National Govern- ment of China) and Mr. K. Yoshi- zawa (Japanese Minister to China) this morning, an agreement for the settlement of the Nanking and Ban kow Incidents was signed.

The spokesman of the Foreign Ministry stated that the Nanking agreement was practically similar to the Sino-British and Sino- American settlements; while the Hankow agreement differed in many respects from both the Nanking and Tainan affairs.

WAR MUNITIONS

COMMITTEE STILL DISCUSSING "LIMITATIONS"

NEW PROPOSALS

Geneva, Yesterday. There was an animated discus- sion by the Disarmament Com- mittee upon two proposals for the limitation of war materials, first- ly, one by Germany providing for direct limitation through a table and showing stocks of secondly, a French proposal sug- gesting that the Budgetary estim- ates provide au indication of the reserve of war materials.

arms:

Viscount Sato (Japan), Signor De Marinis (Italy), and the Czecho-Slavok and Yugo-Slav de- legates favoured the latter pro- posal, whilst the Swedish delegate favoured direct limitation, which Mr. Gibson also said he preferred. -Router.

Reports Refuted Washington, Yesterday: Press reports from Geneva that the Disarmament Commission has abandoned the principle of reduc tion of armaments in favour of limitation is discredited by Mr. Gibson in a cabled reply to Mr. Stimson.

He says the only basis for such an allegation was the unanimous rejection of a certain Soviet amendment on a point of order. Mr. Gibson added that the whole commission made it clear that in rejecting the amendment ils poal- tion as regards reduction was in no wise! prejudiced. Reuter's American Service.

and all the NEWS. The Weekly paper that saves you the trouble of writing Home.

Many orders have come in already for this week's "Overland China Mail. The supply will necessarily be limited. Undoubtedly the abnormal demand is due to the visit to Hong Kong of HRH. the Duke of Gloucester.

Needless to say, the "Overland" has a complete account of the Royal visit, fully illustrated. Furthermore, the "Overland China Mail" is the only illustrated weekly news budget published in the Colony. Containing, as it does,. reports from day to day of the activities of His Royal Highness, from the time of his arrival to the time he was again on the high seas when he sent his thanks to the Colony, the Overland will make very welcome reading at Home. Friends who are more or less used to seeing Royalty in public will want to know how Hong Kong felt when it had the novelty of doing likewise. How Hong Kong rose to the occasion and made the most of it is told to good effect in the "Overland. Others have sent in their orders to let the "Overland tell their story for them and, incidentally, to avoid the fatigue, in this hot weather, of writing a long letter. You have the opportunity of following their example: Seize it before it slips from you because the issue is bound to be snapped up quickly,
