Following closely on the resigna- tion of Mrs. Charles H. Sabin, Mrs. George Orvis of Manchester, Vermont, has deserted the Republican National Committee. Accordin to observers, the reasons for their acts are iden- tical, namely, lack of sympathy with the Adrainistration's Probibition atti- tude.
After five years of intensive tour by a small army of workmen, the Tcat monolith, weigh- ing 400 tons, has been taken from the quarry a Cerrara, Italy, and is on the road to Rome where it will be worked into a memorial to Premier Mussolini. The great block of marble is shown- at the right crated, in itself a tremendous undertaking, sliding along the road on skids and roll- ers while at the left are some of the forty teams of oxen being used to drag the huge stone, Exceptional engineering proble o ano po po o pry to cut the marble in this huge size but in the transhipment by boat to Rome after the tedious road trip.
Toll of 13 Lives
Less than 200 miles from his goal in an attempted dawn to dusk' flight from Panama to Brownsville, Texas, Captain Exker brought his plane safely to Tampico, making the second failure in his try to make the long flight against time.

With motors of his huge plane faltering shortly after taking off from Newark, N. J., airpor with a fall load of sighteers, Pilot. Lou Foote, who escaped death, fought vallaath to bild his giant Ford plane in the air. Thirteen persons were killed when the plane crashed into the iron frame of a freight car about a mile from the landing field where thousands of horrified Sunday visitore stood powerless to avert the tragedy. The top shows the type of plane which carried the victims to their death and below are the crumpled wings of the death plane.
