Reparations Conference

Well-Known Resident of Shanghai Marries

Keeps President Safe

Dr. Hjalmar Schacht, President of the German Reichshank, who heads- the German delegation attending the conference of experts for the revision of reparations now being held in the Bank of France in Paris.

The marriage of a well-known Shanghai resident, Mr. A. J. Hughes, took place at H.B.M.'s Cqu- sulate-General. The bride, who was very popular in musical circles in Western Canada, was Miss Kathleen Campbell Strathearn of Vancouver and Kaslo, B.C. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Hughes was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. E. Jones, of the Office of Works, at whose home in the Con- culate compound the above photograph was taken immediately after the marriage-(Ah Fong).

These two Russian aviators, Teboukhnowsky, right, and Profes- sor Samoilovitch, whos flights from the rescue ship "Krassin' were largely responsible for discovering the ill-fated Nobile flight sur- vivors, were feted in the Russian Embassy at Paris.

At the College Municipal Francais, 11 Route Vallon, was a unique and interesting affair. An attractive programme of enter- tainment was given, including a play entitled "The New Order," a scone from which is shown above.(Wel Wong).
