Now that the cold and dark even- ings are with us, distant wireless reception really comes into its own. This last week we have been get-ernment ingwonderful strength coupled with quality from Cologne, Lan- genberg, and Radio Toulouse, to mention but a few. The latter station has been sending out some delightful programmes on metres, tuneful melodies of the the more popular compositions" interspersed with jolly plano solos, and if 2LO or 5GB are wearl- some we turn to Radio Toulouse 48 A matter of course, and are usually certain of hearing some- thing worth listening to.

This popular French station has now been on the air for about 131⁄2 years, and despite the several crises which have overtaken broad- casting in France, has carried on regularly without a day's inter- ruption since starting transmission In the early part of 1925. At present it is supported by eight general councils representing the neighbouring communes, by nearly 200 agricultural societies, by the Federation of French South- Western Radio clube, and by the voluntary subscriptions of some thousands of local

listeners.
