THE CHINA MAIL,

THE FLOWER SHOW

PRESIDENT'S APPEAL TO

KOWLOON

MÈS. SOUTHORN "PASSIVE"

At the distribution of prizes at the annut show of flowers and vegetables held by the Hong Kong Horticultural Society at Volunteer Headquarters yesterday, Mr. Họ Leung (the President) and he supposed they might congratulate themselves on having staged another fine show. It was most gratifying to see a greater number of exhibi- tors from The Poak.

He would say, however, that he was disappointed by the poor aup- port from the Lower Levels and Kowloon. There must be, he said, "at least 200 dr 300 gardens at Kowloon Tong and Homuntin and Fit was a great pity that they had not received support from that quarter.

He appealed to the residents of Kowloon to take A greater in- terest in the show next year, and, stated that perhaps the Society would arrange suitable transporta- tion in future.

Thanks to Exhibitors

Mr. Ho Leung thunked Lt.-Col. 1. G. Bird, D.S.O. and officers of the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence

London, Yesterday. Detalls of the new airships R.100 nad B.101, now nearing completion, were given in a lecture last night by Group Captain Follows. Each will be 780 feet long and of 5,000,000 euble feat capacity, with speed of 66 knots and a cruising speed of 53 knots over a range of 4,000 miles.

He stated on the highest authority that they are much stronger than any other ship which had hitherto taken the air. They had been de- liberately built too strong rather than tos weak.
