Conquer Malarial Debility
"As long as I live I shall pray for
continued success of Sanalogen phith has saved my life. As a result of to peated attacks of malarial fever, I had become an absolute wreck and could not eat anything.”
"The doctor prescribed Sanatogen, I have had no more attacks of fever, my digestion is now perfect and I can eat and enjoy my food. A great indescribable feeling of cheerfulness has come over me," wrote Mr. M. J. Seth of Bombay. '
The destructive work of the malaria parasite makes your blood thin, and, even when quinine has killed the parasite, this poverty of blood remains.
A short course of Sanatogen will strengthen the cells and tissues of nerves and body in
creasing the quantity of red blood corpuscles.
In the "Medical Echo" of March, 1924, a physician writes on his results ob tained with Sanatogen 'in 80 cases of andemia. The average increase of red. blood corpuscles in these cases wa

THE CHINA M
CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS IN SHANGHAI
RESEARCH WORK
At the fourth session of the China Medical Association's Con- ference held in Shanghai on February 11-Dr. H. H. Morris, the Vice-President, in the chair telegrams of greeting were read from the Ministry of Health, Nan- king, and the Post-graduate Medi- cal School, New York.
Dr. Earle presented the report of the Council on research. It was moved, seconded and passed after considerable discussion "That the Executive Committee be given all authority to make grants from the fund of the ABSO- ciation for research, and that the Council for Research be authoria- ed to make recommendations for grants for research from outside bodies."
Technology Institute
Dr. Hadden presented the re port of the Institute of Hospital Technology.
The following resolutions were seconded and passed:-
(1)That the time has now arrived for the formation of an in- dependent Board of Control for the I.H.T. The functions of the Board of Control are to advise the Director, to administer the funds and generally manage the affairs of the Institute.
(2)That Local Governing Bodies of the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society, the London Missionary Society, and the American Church Mission be each asked to nominate a repre- sentative on the Board of Control and that three members of the China Medical Association be also hominated to go on the Board.
(3) That representatives of other bodies assisting materially in the establishment or work of the Institute, may be co-opted on to the Board of Control as con- sidered advisable.
(4)That the Executive Com- mittee of the China Medical Asso- ciation sanction an appeal being made to the forthcoming Confer- ence for funds to assist in the establishment of the I.H.T. at Hankow, it being made clear that such funds as may become advis- able will be handed over to the
Board of Control for administra- tion.
(5)That, until such time as the Board of Control be formed, the Association will continue to manage the affairs of the Insti- tute.

LOCAL ENQUIRY
meating of the Sanitary Board was held yesterday afternoon, there being present Mr. G. R Sayer (Chairman); the Hon. Mr. H. T. Creasy (Director of Public Works). Dr. H. A. Fawcett (M.O.H.), Dr. W. V. M. Koch, the Hon. Dr. S. W. Teo, the Hon. Mr. J. P. Braga, Mr. Wong Kwong-tin, and the Secretary, Mr. J. Watson.
In pursuance of notice, the Hon. Mr. J. P. Braga asked the following question:
JURY DISAGREE
FRESH INSTRUCTIONS BY JUDGE
STEALING OF A CHILD The jury disagreed in a case at the Criminal. Sessions yesterday afternoon, before Mr. Justice Wood.
Four Chinese faced three charges, one relating to a robbery at a Shatin matshed and the other two being in respect of the two children stolen, one being a giri and the other a boy, each Ave years of age.. The giri was found in Shanghai-street but the boy has not been seen since,
After his Lordship had summed up the jury retfred at 2.25 p.m. and returned at half past three.
"Reverting to the question of Incinerators for refuse destruc- tion, will the Head of the Sani- tary Department place himself in communication with the Commis- sioner of Public Works at Shang- hal and find out the result, when available, of the experiment about to commence of a small incinera tor, for which the provision of a sum of Taels 50,000 has been made by the Shanghai Muntel-
His Lordship remarked that it pality, to ascertain its efficacy as was a case where a gang entered a a means of disposing of wet and house, robbed, and stole two chil- diy garbage, the cast of Its main-dren. It was difficult for him to tenance and the use or otherwise understand the jury's position as to for road purposes of the clinker how they could find the prisoner not. obtained?""
When asked if they were un- animous, the foreman replied that they were unanimous in so far as the first and second prisoners were not guilty of all the charges. With regard to the third they found him guilty of robbery by a majority of six to one,, but unanimously not guilty of child.stealing..
The Chairman: The answer is "Yes." We will make the proposed enquiries. ***.
The rest of the business was of routine nature.
One Crime
gulity on the charge of child steal- ing. It was one crime and con- sisted of three parts, the robbery itself and the stealing of two

or not.
The foreman, replied that they had not discussed the point as to A verdict of Death by Mis-whether the prisoner stole a child adventure was returned at an in- quest at Poplar, E., on Sidney Henry Crowe aged 8, of Abbottsto road, Poplar, who died from sleepy sickness after being, vaccinated at school.
at
Whisky and brandy valued between £700 and £800 were stolen from the warehouse of Messrs. Castle and Co., Vauxhall, S.E.
Equipment:-
Students' furnishings, $1,000, Laboratory equipment,
$5,000,
His Lordship requested the jury rotire and reconsider their verdiet.
The jury returned after 15 min- utea. They re-affirmed their deck- sion with regard to the first and second prisoners. With regard to the third prisoner they again found him guilty of robbery by six votes to one, the foreman explaining that the jury found that he was im plicated in the child stealing but they were not sure whether he was the man who took a child away.
His Lordship pointed out that if they found him to be implicated, as it was a gang robbery, then they must find hire guilty.
The jury then found the man to
guilty of child stealing,, also by six votes to one.
Should it be possible to secure the necessary sum, it might be preferable to build a Director's re- sidence on a site near the stud-be cnts' dormitories rather than in- cur an annual expenditure for rent for his house. The probable. cost of such a house would be about $13,000.
*Other Charges?
The foreman further. explained
With regard to the fourth pri- soner, the foreman sold they were unanimous that he was guilty of robbery, and by six votes to one," Appeal to Members The Executive Committee ap-guilty of child stealing. peal to the members of the Asso- ciation to show their practical ap- preciation of the work of the In- stitute and to express their, con viction of the urgent need for such an Institute to render much required help to the many under staffed hospitals in providing practical assistants.
The Executive believes that this may best be done by raising, a fund amongst the inembers them selves to allow of the immediate recommencing of the work and that such a fund raised among the doctors themselves will constitute the strongest possible challenge to Mission Board to supply the needs for a permanent Institute of Hospital Technology.
that with regard to the first and second prisoners, the jury found they
were implicated at a later stage but were not at Shatin at the time of the robbery. The jury be- leved that they had received the
children.
Speaking to Mr. Holmes, his question of Lordship raised the
and second charging the first prisoners on different counts,
Mr. Holmes replied that in view of what had been said other pro- ceedings would be considered. -The first and second prisoners were discharged and sentence on the other two...was deferred to Fridayco gen

The Executive Committee asks the Conference to approve a strong appeal from the Associa tion to those Mission Boards on the field and at home who are not already assisting in this work for grants for this purpose either by annual contributions for the sub-BANYARD MUSICAL port of the Institute or by under- taking to provide a part of the whole of one or more of the items of capital expenditure.
The following amendment brought forward by Dr. Snell was also seconded and passed-That, Dr. Maxwell be requested to make special appeal to the Home Boards on his coming, visit to the home- land on behalf of the LHT":
