OIL TANKERS IN DEMAND.
Statistics for the quarter ended March 81, issued by "Lloyd'a Register of Shipping," show the volume of tonnage now in hand in British yards to be less by about 139,000 tons than that for the previous quarter. This reduc- tion was inevitable a view of the slow rate at which fresh orders have been coming in during re cent months, while many of the vessels which helped to swell the high building statistics for last year have since been delivered.
It.Is true that the present total of construction in Great Britain and Ireland, 1,440,842 tons, is larger by about 224,000 than the amount in hand twelve months ago; but unless there in a speedy 3,000 GUINEA, MODEL.
