A wax Impression of the seal of one of Canada's oldest railroads, opened
in 1880 on the north shore of the St. Lawrence 35 miles from Montreal, has been presented to the archives of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The Lanoraie and Industrie Railroad, called the "Compagnie du Chemia Rails du St. Laurent et du Village d'Industrie," "ran between the two villages named, the village of Industrie afterwards becoming the town of Jolietto,and was consolidated with other newer lines under the system of the C.P.R. in 1881. The line
one of the first of railroad days and as a unit of the C.P.R. gives that line a place in history more remote than is generally realized. The seal was presented to the archives by Mr. John Loye of the Montreal Numismatic and Antiquarian Society.
