The first of the five new cruisers of the 1924 programme to bo placed in full commission will be the "Cumberland," Captain, A. L. Snagge, which was joined by a crow from Chatham Depot at that port on December 15, for service on the China Station. -Captain | Snagge joined the ship in August, after service as senior officer of the Reserve Fleet at the Nore. The exccutive officer is Commander H. H. Harwood, formerly Fleet Tor- pedo Officer in the Mediterranean flugship. Engineer Commander H. A. Sheridan, who last served afloat in the cruiser "Cambrian," is in charge of the ship's machin-
