COMPANY CELEBRATION AT ANTWERP.

The oldest British steamship company, the General Steam Navigation Co., Ltd., which re- cently celebrated a century of good work, has just provided the inspiration for a notable function in the Port of Antwerp. All the shipping interests of Europe, with appropriate government re- presentation, were present at a banquet recently held in the Balons Sarteel, rue Leopold, Ant- werp. The company's steamer "Hirondelle," had just reached the port under the command of Captain Nightingale, and this was the 10,000th arrival in the Port of Antwerp of a vessel on the Lon- don-Antwerp service.

Mr. Stanley Sparkes, a director of the company, was supported by Monsieur Anseele, the Belgian Minister of Marine, and various M municipal representatives. Anseele reminded the gathering
