The Admiralty announces that Vice-Admiral Sir Frederick Field has been appointed Commander- in-Chief of the Mediterranean Fleet in succession to Sir Roger Keyes, to date from May 1, 1929. -Reuter.
Hero of Zeebrugge. Admiral Sir Roger Keyes, Bart, K.C.B., K.C.V.O., C.M.G., has been Commander-in-Chief of the Mediterranean. Station since June, 1925. He served in the Chinese rebellion with distinction and was later Naval Attache. He was Commodore of the Submar- ine Service when the Great War came. He organised the brilliant Naval attack on Zeebrugge and Ostend on April 23, 1918. From 1919 to 1921 he was Rear-Admiral commanding the Battle Cruiser Squadron of the Atlantic Fleet. and from 1921 to 1925 he was Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff. He was promoted Admiral in March, 1926,
