it was advisable to call the race off until a date to be fixed later. This resulted in a fair gathering of enthusiasts being unavoidably disappointed.

Several of the more daring spirits, however, went out for a little cruise in yachts within the limits of the harbour.

A season unique in the history of the lawn bowls at the Kowloon Recreation Club was brought to a successful conclusion on Saturday afternoon in the pre- sence of a very large gathering of ladies and gentlemen, the latter including three officials of the Lawn Bowla Association in Messrs. usual, quite a number had waited in the Club-house for their return till late in the even ing, only to find that they all had gone straight to their homes! He could not say what the Taikoo players had done to them, and so he could leave it to their imagin- ation. (Laughter). He had one pleasant duty to perform and that was to thank most heartily the generous donors of the large array of prizes that they saw dis- played there. (Applause). He had also on behalf of the players, to thank those ladies who had so ably looked after the tea during the Summer. (Hear, hear).
