Employees of the Shanghai Dock & Engineering Co., at the Old Dock, Broadway, the Pootung Works, and Tungkadoo Dock, num- bering about 2,000 in all, who went on strike on September 19 and 22, as a protest against the dismissal of four of their number, have re- sumed work after the management had agreed to increase the wages of all by five cents per day for per- manent workers and four cents per day for casual workers. The union of the workers at these docks has decided to collect from all men a sum of five cents at the end of this month and to form a relief fund to support the four dismissed mien.
