A swarm of bees looking for a bome in Kansas City early this year selected a window ledge of an apartment house. Attempts to dislodge them failed. A distinguished Scotsman has celebrated the 80th anniversary of his birth, Sir Alexander Campbell Mackenzie was born in Edinburgh on August 22, 1847. He has played a prominent part in the academic musical life of England,·, having been elected Principal of the Royal Academy of Music in 1888. When he retired from his post in 1924 a brother Scot, J. B. M'Ewan succeed- ed him. Glasgow University honoured him with a degree in 1901. .
