STORY OF ATTACK AT LAICHIKOK,
CHINESE CHARGED.
In Mr. W. Schofield's Court at the Kowloon Magistracy yester- H. RUTTONJEE & SON.day, a Chinese was charged with Hong Kong, 22nd September, 1927. complicity in an attempted rob bery at No. 178 Laichikok Road on the night of September 8, when three men gained admission to the house on the pretext of bringing a present of oon cakes. The only people in the place at the time (10 p.m.) were an elderly married woman and her daughter-in-law.

Principal repayable at par-on 1st November, 1938, or, at the option of the Government of Hong Kong, principal may be wholly or partially repaid at any time after the 81st October, 1982, by draw- ings of Bonds of such denominations and to such respective total nominal values as the Governor may determine.
The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, Hong Kong, are instructed by the Government of Hong Kong to receive subscriptions for the above Loan.
The Bonds will be issued in denominations of $1,000. $5,000 and $10,000, payable to Bearer with half-yearly interest coupons attached payable 1st May and lat November at the office of the Hong Kong and Shangha! Banking Corporation, Hong Kong.
Application will be received by the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, Hong Kong, from whom the necessary printed forms can be obtained. Such applications must be for $1,000 or any multiple thereof and be accompanied by a deposit of 10% of the amount applied for,
Applications may be accepted in whole or in part, and in the event of partial allotment the surplus amount paid as deposit will be appropriated towards the payment of the balance due on allot- ment.
The balance due on allotment must be paid on or before November 1st, 1927.
The Government has the right to refuse any application or payment.
In case of default in the payment of the balance due on allot- ment, the deposit paid will be liable to forfeiture.
Notice will be given when Bonds are ready for delivery.
