OFFICERS' MESS.

RING EDWARD HOTEL QUARTERS.

FACILITIES FOR PUBLIC.

As from yesterday the King Edward Hotel has been converted into a military officers' mess, but the bar and a private lounge are

open to the public. The specious accommodation at the King Edward has found room for about seventy officers, who include a number of staff officers and the officers of the 1st Bedford, Regiment.

Some of the mess occupants have to share the big rooms but the public rooms for dining etc. are more than umple. V

The public bar is still open for business and a comfortable sit- ting room with private exit has been opened, access to this be- ing by way of the bar entrance is now reserved for, the military. Recent Improvements.

Not only has the Army taken over the accommodation and'

public rooms but also the kitchen
