Evidence was taken yesterday in the case in which the manager of a garage was formally charged om Saturday with using force to make another man sign a promis- sory note.
The incident occurred in a motor car, the driver of which also stands charged with failing' to stop when ordered by the police whose attention had been drawn by cries of "save life." The cur wus atopped by the police on the return journey.
In his statement in court, com- plainant admitted that he owed) the defendant $100 on which he paid interest. He said that being threatened with death if he failed to sign the note, he did so with a Chinese pen and ink put before
