the auto biography of Sir William. Des Voux in last night's issue, I noticed the reference to the pro- duction of "Iolanthe."

1889.

This production which was by the predecessor of the Phil- harmonic Society, The Hongkong Choral Society, took place in December, 1888, and was repeat ed by special request of Sir William in January, 1889, and again on Saturday in Race week, The parts of the Lord Chan- cellor and the Fairy Queen which he specially mentions were taken by Mr. H. H. Lightwood, and Miss Stopani and, it is interesting to note that Mr. G. P. Lammert who is still with us, was the pianist for the production.
