The National Christian Council has recently received a communica-May tion from Mr. Hoste, Director of the CIM, in which he expresses the desire of the Mission to with draw. from the NCC This com- munication has now been consider- ed by the Executive Committee meeting May 11-13 in Shanghai.

The Executive Committee - had expressed itk sincere regret to Mr. Hoste both because the fellowship: and co-operation of the CM. haa. Been much valued by members of the Council and also because it re- garde this action as prompted by a fundamental misconception as to the nature and functions of the Council The Executive Committee therefore takes the opportunity of restating its conception of thase.
