Unlike our modern selontists, depending solely on the powers of the mind, the ancient trained scientists gave their whole nature to the search for truth, holding that the totality of truth is known only to the highest type of con selousness, when the emotions are parified to the utmost, the intellect and intuition brought to perfection, and the powers of the Spirit have become manifest. Theosophy is a practical philum sophy to inquire into, to study, and to be tested, and if man brings at bis nature to it he will know that. it is the inmost read to the highest." truth, inseparable from his highest nature, as it shows what man is the reason why he is here, and what is the way of his sude, har mendous, and most effective de- velopment Joward manidested Drahit, the inevitable destiny and birthright of every member of the human race.

of the first ideas One Theosophy is that all that we knew as matter or forte or life are manifestations of one conscious- ness; that the whole universe is thinking, that the world process, is all thought; that there is particle of matter where there is not, a great intellecs at work. The whole universe, though it seems mechanical is the expression of a living consciousness. This is pur

sclence, which tells us that in every particle of mutter electrons are whipling at an incredible speed, so that even the immovable rocks, the quiet pebbles, are really a great series of rapid movements, maller being an optical illusion. There is. a rhythm, a perfect beauty, and mathematical harmony in all shut exists, and the conception oll con- sciousness us the foundation of all things is one of the wonderful dis- coveries which the ancient wisdom has to offer to mankind

The second great principle brought out by Theosophy is that life never dies, because life is. always manifested in some form, for the life is not the form but the energy, the consciousness, in the form; and these are indestructible. There is no death in the universe, only a conscious continuation in new forms, which, ever become more capable to respond to the environment, to give out the hidden message of beauty, of greatness,' of power, of sensitiveness which is within all And that is the third great principle that life evolvd. Where science sees only the form side of evolution, the soulless. struggle for existence, Theosophy reveals the glorious song of grow- ing perfection, the calling out of a. greater life, till in the mystery of Man, the absolute, the totality, the perfict Godhead is seen latent, which man discovery in himself through sacrifice of the lower to the higher.

Many think that man's im- mortality is denied by modern selonée, yet tatt not. ao.” „In psycho-analysis there are being 'discovered to-day some of the facts about man which Theosophy has always assorted. A modern scient Jun Jat-Jung,

wrote:-"The conscious possesses possibilities of wisdom which, are completely closed to, consciousness, for the unconscious has at its disposal not only the psychic contents that are. all under the threshold because they had been forgotten or overs looked, but all the wisdom of the experience of untold ages, de posited in the course of time and lying potential in the human brain. So, then, there is a parë bf man which is greater than man. Jung further says that the un conscious in man is extremely piss, however limited may have been his education; and Bateson, à spuro, biologiat, asserts that each one of us is a genius in prison, howaver ordinary one capscilles, may, "be.
