THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY MEETING.
"LAW OF BROTHERHOOD,"
At the Inst meeting of the Hongkong Lodge, the Theosophi- cal Society, on Thursday, sir. H. E. Lanepart gave an audrose ou "The Law of Bretherhood.
In part, ne suid:-
as
Practical Brotherhood asserts the spiritual nature of man, and therefore the perfectibilty of all men to the stature of the Perlecu Christ, the Ferrect Buddha,.ne Perfect World Teacher. It recog nizes the right of every man to grow, to develop every faculty he bringa with him into the works, unrough service for the goout of Fair Growth is possible for han ony by sharing the good ur han his wisdon und knowledge, s power, purity and love, with others. A men, all races and, nations, although occupying un- ferent stages in evolution, in the unfolding of Divinity in man,j being distinctly unequal in capacity, in power and in know- ledge, are yet of the sume Divine origin, and are in their own in- dividual ways unfolding in them- selves the same Divinity. Thuse is nothing in the various races and nations to prevent Brotherhood, God lives equally in all. Brotherhood does not mean equality, save, by the common Brotherhood Divinity in all men. means a great human family in which some are much older than others and each one is bound by duby in mutual service. The Law of Brotherhood demands from every member of society, of the Nation' and of the Nations them- selves,, social service for the goodi of all, for the good of their brother Nation for the good of all Humanity Competition and the struggle for existence was the way of the past. Tolerance does not mean the contemptuous pár- mission to those we think wrong, to go their own way to destruct- ion without hindrance. It means the definite recognition that each individual should be free to choose his own way without dictation from another. without interfer- ence from another in the road that is selected. True tolerance renounces any attempt to lay down a road which all must tread.
