It was surely a thing of in- portance for us to remember that it was a soldier who served Christ as He hung in agony, it was a soldier who when Our Lord cried out "I thirst" procured for him something to case his terrible! pain. Wherever the Gospel was preached this kindly simple act of un unknown soldier would stand as a monument of Chris- tian service.
