It has been represented to me by leading laymen in this Colony that it would be well to bring these facts to public notice.
On Sunday next, it is proposed that the offertory at St. John's this fund and I hope at this ser Cathedral should be devoted to vice to say something of the place of St. Paul's in our National life. I hope that there may be generous response to this appeal whether through this service or by other means.

(To the Editor of the China Mail).
Sir-Your correspondent would perform a public service if he tried to be serious.
Perhaps he is trying to belittle some of the triers who, though not in the first flight of Hongkong fawn tennis, are good sporta to enter. No matter how rotten a show they put upp the deserve applause for trying. Were it not for them there would be no tournament. All that would be necessary would be for the cham- pionship holders to defend their Litles against certain challengers. His sneers at competitors not winning prizes reveals the kind of sport he is, a "pot hunter."
As to his impossible suggestions about accommodation, I would go one better by asking the Hong- kong Cricket Club.to open their enclosure to all ladies. The Jockey 'Club invites Hongkong ladies to be present at their race meetings. Why shouldn't ladies be given seat at the tennis tournament?
Yours etc.
