All Buick cars are torque tube driven. One or both rear springs may be detached or broken and the frame resting on the rear axle, still you can drive your Buick

Buick floating cantilever springs are relieved of all driving strains.

That is one reason

why Buicks ride so easily.

If your car is what is known as the Hotchkiss drive, the drive is through the rear springs and it would be impossible to drive your car if one or both rear springs were detached or broken. With the Hotchkiss drive the springs must support the

car as well as take all the driving strains.
