AN ARRESTING PLAY: AT THE STAR.

Mr. Tom. Meighan, who figures in the above, is probably one of the most handsome men on the screen, Here he has a part that fits him to perfection, and patrons of the Star Theatre should have considerable enjoyment in seeing him as a crook in the underworld of Paris, who inherits a fortune and then fraternises with the lawless class be once proyed upon, In the end of course, he comes out right and the love story winds up satisfactorily. MYSTERY WOMAN.

"SECRECY NO LONGER' NECESSARY."

London, September 24-Miss Florence Appleyard, the wealthy mystery woman" of Bath, who disappeared three years ago, leaving several houses, at Bath and elsewhere, unoccupied, has been discovered in London.

Friends saw her during the past week-end and learned from her the cause of her disappearancs. This is, it is stated, of a private || and personal nature.

She explained that the recent death of a relative suade it no. longer necessary for her to keep her whereabouts afsecret.

Miss Appleyard has" recently been staying at an hotel in the West End.

News of her discovery is of special interest to Bath, where her two empty houses, 13, Grosvenor- place and The Firs, at Weston, just outside. the town, have been objects of much local curiosity. Advertisements were published on September I stating that an action had been begun to recover possession of 13, Grosvenor-place, stated to be let to Miss Appleyard on a yearly tenancy.

It was stated that if Miss Appleyard desired to defend the action she must enter an appear- ance at the Central Office, Royal Courts of Justice, in eight days. About a week ago Miss Appleyard. entered an appearance and the action will go on.

On January 29 this year 13. Grosvenor-place was entered to execute á distress warrant for unpaid rates amounting to more than £go,
