Otaru, July 28, The North Sapun Steamship! Company's str. "Tairi Maru, from Olomari and bound for Otaru was reported lost off Cape Notoro on the evening of the 27th instant. 34. jesengers and 54 of the crew were drowned. 18 passengers and 5 members of the crew were land ex in lifeboats at Notors Village.
The cause of the disaster is variously reported to the effect that the vessel struck the rocks or collided with another vessel..
