On Sunday'night in the Cathedral reference was made to the laity's part in Public worship. A scrutiny. of the Prayer Book makes it quite clear that the congregation has a definite part to perform in every church service. This point receives due emphasis in the recent report of the Archbishops Committee on Music in Worship."There it is advocated amongst other things, that the congregation should sing certain verses of hymns by them: selves. We tremble to think of what would happen if this were introduced into the Cathedral. Con- gregational singing practices are -suggested in the report and many valuable suggestions are thrown out for the improvement of Public Worship. It seems essential that
