which is the best Hongkong has ever yet heard, but I do say in solo parts, and especially in feminine voices, the brass must not be too prominent, but more subdued. If this is done the principals as soloists will be heard to greater advantage. The other Tenor and principal Bass, the Abbot, Signor Mauceri was beyond praise. His robust and sonorous Bass was heard in its highest gradeur of what the human vocal organ is capable of doing. All the other principals and the whole chorus was certainly worth hearing, and it is a pity the attendance was so not so good but as this is the season for hil local production of music also, one can hardly expect fuller houses, The scene of the Friars of the or der of St. Francis etc., was most effective and certainly would touch even the hearts of nou-members of the Catholic faith, and those who have not heard such grand and in- spiring music as produced by the 1st Division v. Mr. Wylie: Arising out of that answer, I would like to point out that, I have been asking several questions of a similar nature at the CHINA LIGHT AND POWER,
