SATURDAY'S GAMES.

KING'S STILL UNBEATEN.

The "King's" farewell match against the Rest of the Colony drew a big crowd to the Sookum

"A" ground on Saturday afternoon when the regiment suc ceeded in maintaining its unheaten record in Hongkong, the result being a draw of two goals all. The soldiers began with ten men Lieut. Junes, their centre forward, did not turn up and at one stage, through Williams sustaining a temporary injury, they cre only playing nine. If this had not been so the King's would have had an easy victory as the combination and a good deal of the individual play of the Rest was rather weak. The play was somewhat better in the second half than in the first and there was an exciting tussle for the odd goal which never came. The

teams were

King's-Holland; Wynne and Williams; Newton, Hodgson and Jones; Burnett, Williams Hart Dyer and Beesley.

The Rest-Angus: Wheeler and Bishop; Mair; Stewart and Lelliott; Mason, Castledine, Johnson, Begg and Simpson.

Referee: Mr. Smith.

The King's Reserves also kept their end up on Saturday by de- feating the Titania" by one goal to nil. Thus they also preserve their unbeaten record. An unin- teresting game between South

"B" and the China

"Tamar!" Reserves left the score sheat blank but the Sacred Heart managed to beat St. Joseph's by two goals to one. South China "A" beat the Club Reserves in a fast and elever game by three clear goals.

The extra gymkhana, on Satur-Dr. F. H. Kewa Kukaburra (late day, attracted a record crowd to witness some of the finest finishes โป ever seen on the local course. the first event eight faced the starter, Olive Leaf, Mr. Carroll's nomination, being a warm favourite with Mopoke, Mr. Matcham in the saddle, a good second in demand. Skylight caused a lot of trouble ut. the post, barging across the field time and again. Eventually to a good start, Mr. Soares, on Olive, Leaf, set the pace, followed by Fire King and Mopoke. As the field turned into the straight, Olive Leaf, was still ahead, but was. passed by Mopoke at the distance post, where Skylight made his run and won by a bare length.

The second event attracted six, of which Strathfarrar was a worm favourite. To a very indifferent start,, Mr. Zellensky jumped out

lead

from length's Country Mouse, and, making all the running, won handlly by six lengths (official verdict), Speckled Mouse and his stable companion filling the places. Only five started in the St. Andrew's Quaich. At the start, Ivy Leaf and Kukaburra came into collision after the flag dropped but Mr. Soares soon took his mount to the van and led until the half mile post was passed the second time, when Pencastle and Clover Leaf were in the van. Turning into the straight, Clover Leaf took the lead, followed by Pencastle and Yellow River, în which order they finished. Yellow River was a firm favourite to win and place. In the fourth event. Mr. Soares had an easy ride on Orient Dablia, his only opponent being Drake, who refused to galop after half the distance had been covered. In the fifth race, Mr. Matcham, after one of the worst starts of the meeting in which Roman Sparrow gained advantage, got up in time to win handily by 22 lengths, Mr. Sewell, on Cheseman (with a martingale !) | was a lucky third, with Finvoy a close fourth.

In the next event Captain Neville had an exercise galop on River grass in beating his sole opponent Laurel Leaf. ridden by Mr. Zellensky. The final race, the Champions, attracted six starters, of which Kamsbury was a fing favourite, with Fern Leaf second in demand. Clover Leaf and Starland set the pace for six fur- longs, when Ramsbury and Ferm Leaf went to the front. These two raced together to the home bend when Ramsbury had a clear lead of two lengths. At this stage Mr. Zellensky drew his, whip and his mount swung right across the course, allowing Fern Leaf, who came again, to get up in time to win by a short head.
