CHUNGKING TO CAPITULATE.
PEKING, August 25. Belated telegram from Amoy reports the landing of filty Japanese marines on account of the dis _order_in the city. At Kwelchow. General Chow Hsi-cheng's troops occupied the right bank of the river opposite Chungking on Aug, 21. The following day Yangsen's troops fell back on Chungking which is already being evacuated by the Northern forces. Chung- king is expected to .capitulate within a week.-Reuter,

The new feet gunnery officer of the China Station is Commander
S. L. G. Ingham, who joins the flag- ship"Hawkins" this month. Com- mander Ingham will be included in the staff of the Commander-in- Chief. He has been expert in gunnery for many years and saw a great deal of service in the late
war.
The very high average of 80.3 miles an hour was established by a 1500 cc. Fiat driven by Cagno in the International Light Car road race, over a distance of 324 miles held at Brescia, Italy. Cagno, who has been before the public as a race driver for the last eighteen years, finished with a lead of 34 min, 40 soc. on his nearest com- petitor, Lenti on a Bugatti, and bis Fiat was faster than the winners in the 2-litre and 3-litre classes. The results of the 1500 cc. race are as follows:
