The death of Martin Tabert in aer cump, has caused a sensation. Tubert was arrested for stealing a riale on a train and sen- tenced to six months imprisonment. His parents sent the money to pay his fiac, but it was reidraed, and the boy leased to a lumber company; then he became ill. He could not work as fast as the other prisoners, and he was lashed. Convicts say he died of the whipping, and the Whipping Bass has been adicted for his murder. The Legis lature took up the case, with result that Florida will probably abolish flogging and the leasing of prisoners to corporations.
