Mrs. Sarah Lawrence, 40, a chambermaid in a hotel, asserts she was the first and only wife of the late John Lawrence McKenzie, in- ventor and capitalist, who left an estate of $1,000,000. Another woman has claimed that McKenzie married her and raised a family.

The trial of Wylie F. Morgan for the murder of six-year-old Lillian Gilmore has been begun. Little Lillian was playing in front of her home with her sister, Dorothy, when they were invited by Morgan to go for a motor-car ride,. Little-Dorothy saw Morgan repeatedly attack and then kill her sister, whose body he threw under tree stump. Then he took Dorothy to a spot near her home and" left her. When arrested Morgan confessed, and led the police to the spot where the child's body was found. There were many threats of lynching.

The official announcement of the engagement of Lady Mary Cam- ` bridge, daughter of the Marquis. of Cambridge and niece of Queert Mary, to the Marquis of Worcester puts an end to the reports that Lady Mary was to be the bride of the Prince of Wales. Lidy Mary was a bridesmaid at the wedding of Princess Mary and Viscount Lascelles and acted in a similar capacity at the wedding of Lady Elizabeth Bowers-Lyon to the Duke of York.

Father Heredia also shows an ectoplasmic effect, obtained by a trick. In the hollow of a woman's conib, or in a celluloid finger, gauze is concealed and withdrawn when the room is darkened for exposure to the

camera.
