.'
For a while the station sergeant did not take the spoaber seriously. His first impression was that it was an attempt to make the police the butt
of a practical joke, but gradually be foclined to the view that he was talk. ing to a madman.
"Cauna Fe get ma out of this place" repeated the voice over and
over.
"Where are you?" saked the ser geant, who did not have long to puzzle over the nationality of the etranger.
"I'm locked up in this back," was the reply, "and I want to get cot."

Mr Lynott
"How do you know you are in si bank ?" the sergeant challenge,
"Good God, mon, I know that. Canna' I see all the money safes around me ?
Well, bow did you come to get locked inside?"
"Never mind about that mon. Good God canna' reget ma oot ??
Having by this time fully reached the conclusion that the caller was far from rational, tun sergeant rang off with the remark that it seemed hardly credible tha & Scotsman would wish to leave each congenial surroundings as a banking chamber.
But the telephone bell soun 'ed again, and the familiar voice was beseeching the police to come and get ma oot."
It was a bupalean task for the aer- geant to try to rescue a maa from imprisonment in a bank when he had not the faintest idea where the bank was. The most insistent questiaring fail to establish that information.
But at this crucial stage the tele phone op alor cut in, and from him the sergeantreceived confirmation that the caller was actually speaking from a city branch of one of the big bank ing institutions. The officer was soon alive to the urgency of the case. Ho got into touch with one of the city police stations. A resece party was sent out, and sure enough a man was found inside the bank clamouring for his freedom.
It has not been ascertained official
