SEA-FRONT BLAZE,

AIRMEN HELP TO FIGHT FIRE

Hundreds of visitors to Hunstanton; Norfolk, left their beds to watch a big fire on the sea front. Others watched

from bedrom windows.

it

It started about one o'clock in fried fish shop and, fanned by a strong wind, it spread so quickly that haberdashery stores, tea-rooms that hold 300 people, and a kinema and a fruit and vegetable shop were soon in flames, and burst out.

The fire spread to the Sandringham Hotel refreshment room, but was there checked by the fire brigade, assisted by a military brigade from a neighbouring serodroma.

A story of a hotel swindler's motor tour all over the country with a young woman was told at London Sessions when Edgar Noel Craven, 32, engineer, 2.30 p.m. of Mount-street, Manchester, pleaded guilty to incurring debte of £1 8s. 7d. and £69 10s, by false pretences.

For the prosecution it was stated that Craven went into Frascati's Re etaurant, Holborn W.C., and ordered dinner, with wine, liqueurs and cigarettes. When given a bill for £1 3. 78. he made out a cheque on blank

Visitors to the hotel had to leave- paper payable at a Manchester bank. The cheque was returned marked "no their rooms owing to the intense heat, He then went to a Mr. The wind carried sparks all over the Keltee and hired a motor car in which town, and vizitore and townspeople, Mr. Keltee himself drove Craven and in varying stages of undress, aided the firemen in stamping out spark and cinders in the streets,

The cause of the fire is unknown.
