EXTENSION OF OBJECTS.

COURT CRANTS PETITION,

La the Supreme Court this morning the Chief Justice (Sir William Rees Davies) agreed to make an order in terms of a petition by Me. J. H. Taggart, nisnaging director | of the -Hongkong Hotel Co. Ltd, which asked the Court to sanction the alterations to the Company's of association un- memorandum

at animously agreed -- ta traordinary general meetings of share- Eelders held on July and August,

ex-

Appearing to support the petition, M. Eldon Potter (instructed by Hess, Descon, Looker. Descon and. Farston) explained that the necessity for the present application arcse through the circumstance that the memorandum of association granted to the company when it was in- corporated in 1806 had new proved entirely inadequate for the progres of this great undertaking."

A summons for direction had been taken out under section 10 of the Companies Ordinance and the acting Chief Justice had expressed himself satisfied that this petition would not in any way adversely affert the creditors of the Company. His Honour had therefore dispensed with any notice being given to the creditors and had directed that the petition should be advertised in certain newspapers on certain dates. This had been done and there was an affidavit on the file by Mr. Scott Flatsten to prove it.

Mr. Potter said that the application came before the Court with the utanimous approval of the share- Holders. Counsel read Mr. Taggart's petition which, after dealing with the alterations to the company's capital recently authorised. went on to state, inter alia:--
